Surf (surf pop, surf music) - American music of the early 60s of the XX century, originally beach music, that is, for resort visitors and especially for surfers. The music is mostly instrumental, the beginning of the surf is Dick Dale’s original guitar style, from which it all began. Originally based on simple cyclic melodic drawings, the surf gradually became more significant musically. Thanks to Dick Dale and The Ventures, surf rock improved and achieved some success in the 1960s. Then followed the years of surf stasis, when even the founders of the genre (including The Beach Boys) departed from surf rock.

Swamp Pop is a popular music genre shaped by the indigenous people of South Louisiana (the Acadian region) and the adjacent part of South East Texas. The swamp-pop ancestors were the Cajuns, who experimented with sound in the 1950s - early 1960s; the genre itself combines a new Orleans rhythm and blues country and traditional musical currents of French Louisiana. Although swamp-pop is a rather vague term, the genre has a large audience in its native regions, South Louisiana and southeastern Texas, this musical direction is also quite popular in the United Kingdom, Northern Europe and Japan.

The overwhelming majority of musical "jokes" and "humorous ones" have practically nothing in common with humor in our understanding. Such well-known plays like Joke (Badinerie, from Orchestral Suite No. 2, B Minor) by Johann Bach, Humoresque (Humoresque, op. 101, No. 7) by Antonin Dvorak or Humeresque (op. 10, No. 5) by Sergei Rachmaninov, can cause admiration, but it is unlikely to cause just laughter - even with a very complex chain of cultural associations. These works are rather peculiar "jokes of geniuses", written easily, not quite seriously. They should be treated with the same ease, but it is not necessary to laugh at the same time.

Music style

Music sources "new romantics" were electronic minimalism, glem- and krautrock. At the same time (unlike the glam stars of the early 70s), neo-romanticists practically did not use guitars, replacing them with synthesizers; The drum machines took the place of the live drums. However, in the compositions of many well-known electropop groups, real drummers also played: Richard James Burgess (Landscape), Warren Cann (Ultravox), Rusty Egan (Visage).

The music of the “new romantics” was mainly electropop (or synthpop) and was, as a rule, danceable. Along with the legacy of Bowie and Roxy Music, disco, funk and rhythm-and-blues were actively used by the “new romantics” as musical sources.

New Romantics

The New Romantics is a musical direction that emerged in the UK in the early 1980s and (as part of a new wave) that had a significant impact on the development of the English pop and rock scene. “New Romantics” emerged as an alternative to punk culture that was ascetic in many of its manifestations and not only didn’t carry social protest, but also (according to Virgin Encyclopedia of 80’s Music) “sang glamor, bright styles and hedonism”.

The rise of the movement coincided with the early flowering of the music video culture. The latter served as a catalyst for the process, since it was precisely in the calculation of the video clips that “new romantics” created incredible hairstyles (A Flock of Seagulls) and fancy robes (Spandau Ballet), actively using bright cosmetics.

In Russia, the waltz was under strict prohibition, which secured the order of Paul I to the military governor of St. Petersburg Alexei Arakcheev on December 1, 1797. Together with the waltz, the emperor forbade other "indecent phenomena": the wearing of whiskers, tail coats, and "jackboots, referred to as boots." In pristine Britain, until the middle of the 19th century, dance, in which partners approached each other very closely, was condemned by the official press and the clergy. So even the Queen Victoria, who ruled at that time, did not advertise that she actually loved to waltz. In 1834, for the first time, the waltz was publicly danced in the USA, in Boston, and outraged public figures called the dance "indecent and violating any decency".

Crunkcore

Crunkcore (also called crunk punk, screamo-crunk and scrunk) is a musical genre that combines crane with elements of screaming. The American edition of The Phoenix gave the following definition to the genre: “Crunkcore is a combination of East Coast minimalist hip-hop, techno-breakdown, simple drum machine rhythms, hysterical vocals and personal poetics.” In another article, the magazine called crunkcore "a mixture of Panic! at the disco and electronic music. The subculture that forms around the genre is called “Scene Kids” (English Scene Kids).

Critics call the main performers of this genre - Brokencyde, 3OH! 3, Millionaires, Breathe Carolina, I Set My Friends on Fire, Family Force, Kesha and MC ParaMaKo.
